Tabor has been in Feltonville for 123 years. We have always been a community church as opposed to a church located in a community. These pictures are a glimpse into whom we are and ways in which we serve. We are blessed and proud to serve Feltonville and appreciate the support for our ministries that the people of Feltonville have given for over a century.
Tabor wears red for Reformation Sunday. Pastor Jane spoke about discipleship, the human condition, and how Jesus stops and hears our cries for mercy even when the crowd doesn't. Tabor lives out our Lutheran faith by, in the words of Martin Luther, reaching out and being "little Christ's" to our neighbors.
Our youth are working hard getting ready for our trip to the ELCA .National Youth Gathering in Detroit. Here they are working on a banner; they also did some cleaning at the church and raised $121 for the Diapers for Detroit offering by recycling old computers and scrap metals.

Connie Grier (center) led a lively conversation about supporting kids in school. Connie is the founder of The RESPECT Alliance, Creating Community and Global Solutions, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating the achievement gap, one family at a time, by building respectful collaborations between the home, school and community partners; empowering parents to be effective advocates for their children and mentoring youth.
Alexsis has chosen Tabor as the site for a project to earn a Gold Award with the Girl Scouts. Her idea is to develop a lending library for neighborhood children. She remembered how her family had to scramble to find the books she needed to complete the 100 Book Challenge when she was in elementary school, so she is developing a program to supplement what’s available in school and public libraries. Tabor’s collection, now contains more than 700 titles. Now she is turning her attention to getting the word out to the community. You can track her project and find information about hours the library is open on her Facebook page at Project Read.
Our lively Tabor crew putting together packets of school supplies to hand out at our annual TaborFest neighborhood block party. We thank the city for the permit to close Rockland Street. We always have people lined up to cook hotdogs and hamburgers and to lead activities for kids and we have a DJ lined up. Our 2017 TaborFest will be Saturday, August 26 with a rain date of Sunday, August 27.
